What We’re Working On

One thing we should have done better was preparing parents for the seating situation. We know seating was limited, and in the future we will communicate that more clearly ahead of time so parents know what to expect.

We also noticed that players struggled at times with calling their own fouls. We wanted the games to have a true open-run feel, but we are considering using referees in the future to help keep the games moving, reduce confusion, and make the experience better for the players.

We are also working on expanding The Open Run to serve more players. That includes adding additional age ranges, creating games specifically for middle school students, and hosting an all-girls Open Run.

We are also looking at ways to improve check-in, court assignments, game flow, win/loss tracking, and overall communication before and during the event.
